Hand-Sewn

With the same colour of wool or TENCEL™ from which each rug is made, we use a needle to sew the edges by hand. All Jacaranda’s stock rug edges are handsewn. Bespoke rugs can be handsewn too, lead time 14 to 18 weeks depending on the range.

Blind-Hemmed

Blind-hemming is so called as the stitching is invisible and the tape gives a subtle edge to the rug. We colour match tape closely to the rug centre to create a stylishly, understated finish. Visible tape width varies, but will be as narrow as each texture allows, whilst ensuring longevity. Currently approximately 2-5 weeks from order to despatch.

Wide Blind-Hemmed

Due to the loop construction of certain ranges, they require a slightly wider blind-hem than our standard finish. We closely match cotton or velvet tape to the rug centre and add a narrow edge, ensuring that the loop pile is securely held for longevity whilst giving a smart, subtle finish. Currently approximately 2-5 weeks from order to despatch.

Whipped

The edges of all but Jacaranda’s thickest bouclés can be overlocked in our workshop. For our TENCEL™ ranges we use the same yarn as the pile, or customers can use our TENCEL™ pom box to choose contrasting colours. We whip wool ranges in carefully matched wool yarn for a subtle, stylish finish. Currently approximately 2-5 weeks from order to despatch.

Bordered

We can border rugs in a choice of leather, cotton, linen or Alcantara®.  Standard border width is 5 – 6cm. Please note that our leather borders are made from real hides so joins may be visible In addition to the tapes we stock, we are happy to border rugs in tapes supplied by customers, please get in touch for further information. Currently approximately 2-5 weeks from order to despatch.

Bespoke made to measure

All of our ranges can become made-to-measure rugs. Our UK workshop can edge any range in a choice of stylish understated finishes, with a 2 – 5 week lead time from order to despatch. Or choose a hand-sewn edge made at source with a 14 – 18 week lead time.

Bespoke colour

Almost every Jacaranda range in wool, TENCEL™ and silk can be colour matched to wallpaper, paint, fabric or pom. You may also combine different handwoven textures and colours to create rugs with bespoke linear designs such as stripes and wide borders.  For rugs for inset locations, please order oversize pieces of carpet, to cut in on site.

For bespoke colour orders we will make a colour swatch for approval before we start hand-weaving, you can save time on the colour swatch approval by choosing colours from our pom box of Jacaranda colours.

Bespoke design

Our hand-tufted rugs and carpets are smart, deep, dense and contract-rated. They can be made from wool, TENCEL™ or silk. Rugs may be ordered with hand-sewn edges or as broadloom for cutting into inset locations.

Hand-tufting offers complete freedom of design, colour, shape and size.  Be inspired by one of Jacaranda’s designs or create your own.  For all bespoke designs or colours we will make a strike-off for customer approval, after which production and shipping takes approximately 12 to 14 weeks.
